Campus Best Practice and Sustainability (SIG) kick-off meeting

March 10, 2016, NH Hotel Vienna Airport, Vienna, Austria

It's often said that the campus networks are the weakest link in the chain of end-to-end services needed for research and education. It's also said that the IT systems used in research and education waste energy. This meeting is intented to anybody who is interested in bringing the 'best green ICT practices' to their R&E constituencies.

The meeting will cover the following topics: SIG charter preparation, deciding the name of the new SIG, selection of the chairs and identification of the next preparation duties.

CNMS2016 - Campus network monitoring and security workshop

April 25-26, 2016, Czech Technical University, Prague, Czech Republic

The workshop is focused on campus network monitoring and security. Participants will discuss common practices in network monitoring, used tools and processes deployed to improve management of campus networks.

​Campus Best Practice 5th Technology Workshop
October 26-28,  2015 - Hotel Sankt Petersburg, Plovdiv, Bulgaria

The wo​​rkshop aimed to present the latest developments and best practices in campus and NREN-related technologies for the research community of Balkan countries & to contribute to the development of short-term service strategy for BREN.

​​MARnet Campus Best Practice Workshop ​ 

April 24-26,  2015 - Hotel Molika, Bitola, Macedonia

The MARnet Campus Best Practice team invited all members of NOC campuses and institutes throughout Macedonia and and​ other interested CIIT visitors​ to come to the Campus Best Practice workshop, held at CIIT 2015 conference in Bitola, Macedonia.

The group  presented their final results of their involvement in the GÉANT​​ Campus Best Practice Task and discussed Campus Best Practice methods and processes and  documents produced​ by the MARnet task group. A discussion of future work and possible best-practice documents that are of wider interest in Macedonian campuses was also on the agenda​.​​​​

The workshop took place on 23.4.2015 (Thursday) as a pre-conference event of the CIIT 2015​ -  24-26.4.2015.​ For more information visit the workshop events page.​​​

​Belgrade Security Workshop 2015
18-20 March 2015 - Belgrade, Serbia

The Academic Network of Serbia - AMRES organized a security workshop 18th - 20th March 2015 in Belgrade, as a part of the GEANT Campus Best Practice task. The goal of the workshop was to educate local and international IT staff so they could approach security issues in a more systematic and efficient way, as well as enable them to familiarize with Best Practice Documents (BPDs). The world IPv6 launch day was on June 6th 2012. Now the main content providers are supplying their services over IPv6 natively. IPv6 has become mainstream. Is it time for the last workshop? Has everything been done on campus?   

​Network Monitoring Workshop
April 24-25 2012 - Brno, the Czech Republic.
CESNET as a member of the GÉANT project together with other partners from the activity NA3/Task 4 Campus Best Practice organise in collaboration with the Brno University of Technology a workshop focused on Campus Monitoring. The Motto of this workshop: Monitoring as one of basic fundaments for increasing network stability, reliability and security.

​IPv6 Workshop 
24-25 March 2011 - Espoo, Finland
The IPv4 address pool is exhausting. The road of IPv6 deployment is cumbersome. The GN3 IPv6 workshop explores the question of networking without IPv4. Arguments can be taken pro and against and the speakers and event participants can share both practical experiences and professional competence.

​IP Telephony Workshop
29 -30 April 2010 - Prague, the Czech Republic
CESNET organised a workshop focused on IP Telephony. The two-day workshop discussed the practices in migration processes from legacy phone systems to IP telephony in different academic sites, effectiveness of using new technologies, introduction of new applications, security aspects, etc. The workshop attracted 50 participants from 10 countries.

​Network Monitoring Workshop
20 - 21 October 2009 - Belgrade, Serbia
The objective of the two-day workshop was to bring network monitoring experts of the participating NRENs together to share their experiences, show features and future plans for home-made and other monitoring tools, discuss common denominators and thus lay grounds for future collaboration and common best practices in the area of network monitoring. AMRES organised the workshop. There were 31 participants from 6 countries.
